FAQS

Q.  Price change updates; when does that occur?  I have changed the
price on an item, and it isn't updated when scanned in the POS until
the next day. Can it happen in real-time?

A.   The idea of not updating prices on the fly is the ability to lock down all
transactions at every station everywhere, an example helps: change a price
and commit it - a person is buying two of the same items, between two scans
the price could change...

Q.  I just re-read the pdf on key strokes, but I still don't have the
whole 'Price Level Selection' process down.  Could I have a detailed
 step by step example?

A.   It's the name price thing (by the way, I just uploaded an updated "quick
keystoke guide" to the site which is actually in date. Ok name prices are
different pricing levels for different customers (and it was a real fucking
pain to program in). It goes like this: with nothing setup it default to
retail (standard price), but you can add things like student discount, staff
discount, trade prices etc.. it's all the same barcode lookup, but you pre-
select the sale type BEFORE you start the transaction, and the lookups will
be based on what ever prices you have setup for that named price.

Q.  Returns, F10:  In the pdf it mentions two ways to enter 'Return'.
It only seems to work after a line item is scanned, and not from a
blank order. Then, once you hit return (ie. complete transaction),
you can't escape back to adjust the order.  The dialog says
something like, 'Return to commit', and that's the only option.

A.   Ok, doc out of date warning... (December 12, 2003 11:44 AM)

There are 3 types of return - 1 active (must have matching transID in db), and two passive: dedicated returns transaction, and returns "in sale". The concept of active or passive is setup in the config file.
